Is there a way an individual can utilize a massive amount of free wood chips to form building material?
My mom’s about to have an oak tree taken down in her back yard. It’s humongous, and they will be bring in two trucks, with one doing all the chipping as it’s coming down. I think it would be a shame for all those wood chips to be taken away if they can serve some useful purpose. I have no way of compressing them into anything like sheets or boards for building. But I was wondering if there’s any way to compound the wood chips with another material(s) and a bonding agent to form blocks of some sort using a RAM or block forms. I was thinking I might at least experiment, since I’m planning to build a Green home in the future, and have sufficient space to store the raw material and finished products.
Not in a cost effective way for an individual. Bear in mind that the tree service will likely give these chips to a park to use as mulch, or will turn it into mulch to sell. It wont just all go into a landfill or anything.
